"To find, demonstrate and promote the best examples of self-sustaining building practice throughout the world."

The Challenges will be high profile competitions and events for people of all ages and abilities that drive prompt practical action towards a sustainable future.

The Challenges will be principally web-based using the best IT applications enabling global reach.

Challenge outputs will include:

• Award ceremonies 
• Exhibitions - virtual and touring 
• Publications - web, books, journals, articles and teaching materials 
• Database of ideas, designs and projects 
• A permanent network and community of interest 
• A sustainable infrastructure to support a rolling programme of Challenges to progress and refresh thinking.

The first Challenge is for a UK based competition which will be open for entries in Summer 2011, closing on 31st December 2011. Awards will be announced in Spring 2012, with the Award event being held in April/May in London. The second Challenge will start in 2015 and culminate in a Global Competition in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
